Shillong, June 24: The Pynursla Civil Sub-Division has issued a fresh public notice announcing temporary traffic diversion arrangements following a road cut-off along the Laitlyngkot–Lyngkyrdem stretch between chainage km 24+00 and 37+00. The revised arrangements were issued based on reports from the PWD (Roads), Pynursla Division, and earlier orders of the district authorities.
According to the notice, commuters travelling through the affected area will be diverted via Laitlyngkot – Iew Mawiong – Umthli – Nongthymmai – Laitkynsew NH Point (Chainage 25+930). The diversion will remain in force during road closure periods from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Authorities clarified that the temporary diversion route is meant strictly for light and medium vehicles, while traffic movement from Pomlum to Mawlieh will remain open for all categories of vehicles, including heavy motor vehicles.
The notice further stated that all vehicles will be allowed to cross from both ends of the affected stretch—Laitlyngkot and Lyngkyrdem—up to 10:30 AM, after which construction work will commence along the road section.
In view of the ongoing monsoon season, commuters have been advised to exercise extreme caution while travelling through the area and to avoid non-essential travel during or immediately after heavy rainfall, especially at night.
Emergency vehicles, including ambulances, fire services and police vehicles, may be permitted during closure hours subject to safety assessment by on-site authorities. For assistance, commuters may contact the Pynursla Police Station at 9862251116.
