Shillong, May 22: The Pynursla Civil Sub-Division administration has announced temporary closure of the Laitlyngkot-Lyngkyrdem road stretch from May 25 in view of ongoing construction work and public safety concerns.
According to a public notice issued by the Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (C), Pynursla Civil Sub Division, the road closure will affect the stretch between chainage kms 24+00 to 34+00. The order was issued following meetings held with the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills and officials at Mini Secretariat, Pynursla.
As per the notification, the road will remain closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 11 am to 3 pm, while it will remain fully closed on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The administration also informed that the existing night blockade will continue as per previous orders.
The closure arrangement will be temporary and enforced on a daily basis from May 25 until further review and orders from the authorities.
In view of the monsoon season, commuters and members of the public have been advised to exercise extreme caution while travelling through the stretch and avoid non-essential travel during or immediately after heavy rainfall, especially during night hours.
The notice further stated that emergency vehicles, including ambulances, fire service and police vehicles, may be allowed during the closure period subject to safety assessment by authorities on site. The public may also contact Pynursla Police Station for assistance.
