Shillong, November 4: Swastic Chettri fell just short of a deserved century as Meghalaya’s Ranji Trophy 2025-26 plate group match against Bihar ended in a draw in Patna today.
With two days washed out a result was always somewhat unlikely. Meghalaya made the most of being put into bat first by making 408/7 declared in their only innings. Bihar then finished proceedings on 156/4, with points shared equally between the two sides.
Yesterday Meghalaya had made 235/4, with guest professional Ajay Duhan hitting 129 and Swastic not out on 54.
Young Swastic, playing only his second first-class match, batted patiently today but fell short of a hundred as he was bowled by Himanshu Singh (3/126) for 94 (205 balls, 10x4s, 1×6).
Jaskirat Singh Sachdeva (35 not out, 50 balls, 4x4s) and Akash Chaudhary had some fun at the end, putting on 98 together in an unbeaten eighth wicket stand. Akash struck five fours and four sixes in his 60 not out from 62 deliveries.
Bihar opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi also had an enjoyable stint out in the middle, whacking 93 from 67 balls (9x4s, 4x6s) before he was trapped LBW by Bijon Dey (2/47, 9 overs). Other batters went at a slower pace but hosts Bihar still amassed 156 in just 25 overs, at a run rate of 6.24, when the match came to a close.
Meghalaya will now travel to Surat where they will face Arunachal Pradesh from 8 November.
