Redeem Tlang Re-Signs with NorthEast United FC Till 2027

Shillong, February 7, 2025: NorthEast United FC has announced that midfielder Redeem Tlang has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the club until 2027.

Tlang, a product of the Shillong Lajong youth academy, began his Indian Super League (ISL) journey with NorthEast United FC in the inaugural season in 2014. After spells with Shillong Lajong, FC Goa, and Odisha FC, he returned to his roots in 2023.

This season, Tlang has been a key player for Juan Pedro Benali’s side, particularly excelling in a new role as a right-back.

“I’m thrilled to extend my stay with NorthEast United FC,” Tlang said. “I believe in the club’s direction, and the support from the coaching staff and management has been incredible. I’m committed to giving my all to help the team reach its goals.”

Head Coach Juan Pedro Benali praised Tlang’s impact, stating, “Redeem is a vital presence for us, both on and off the field. We’re delighted he’ll remain a part of the NorthEast United family. He began his ISL journey with NorthEast United FC, and we hope he finishes his career here.”

Mandar Tamhane, CEO of NorthEast United FC, emphasized the importance of continuity within the squad. “Redeem can play in multiple positions and adds versatility to our team. Additionally, continuity in squad build-up is the key to our vision, and Redeem fits the bill perfectly. It was a no-brainer that we wanted to extend his contract,” he said.

A Heartwarming Announcement

NorthEast United FC orchestrated a special moment to announce Tlang’s contract extension during their home match against Mumbai City FC. In the 22nd minute (Tlang’s jersey number), placards reading “Redeem Stays 2027” were unveiled by Tlang’s family members in the stands, creating a heartwarming atmosphere.

“This is a moment of immense joy for our family,” shared Emmon Tlang, Redeem’s mother. “We’ve come to J.N. Stadium to watch football for years, and now, to be part of this announcement is truly special.”
