According to VDP Pomshutia President, Mantiphrang Khongkip, the motorcycle, which had no number plate, was found concealed in a forested area of Pomshutia village along the Shillong-Dawki road.

After discovering the motorcycle, VDP members reportedly laid a trap to apprehend the suspected thieves when they arrived in a truck to collect the motorcycle, allegedly with the intention of transporting it towards Bangladesh.

Following a chase and confrontation that continued until around 2 pm, VDP members managed to apprehend one of them, identified as Balajied Mawiong, while the other three managed to escape after a struggle with the VDP members.

The arrested person reportedly told the VDP members that he was a resident of Sohlong. Of the three who escaped, two were also reportedly from Sohlong, while the fourth was from Mawryngkang.

Khongkip further stated that the arrested individual was suspected to be a drug user, as a small quantity of suspected drugs packed in a plastic tube was allegedly recovered from his possession, along with cash amounting to Rs 500 and Rs 100.
