Shillong, September 17: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Thursday inaugurated a Food Fest organised by the Evangelical Teachers Fellowship of India (ETFI), Meghalaya Chapter, highlighting the crucial role of teachers, parents and society in shaping the younger generation.
Addressing the gathering, Rymbui said education and guidance should not be confined to the classroom, but must be seen as a shared responsibility involving teachers, parents and the wider community. He said constant learning, encouragement and proper guidance are essential to building a peaceful and progressive society.
The Education Minister also stressed the need to prepare young people to recognise and make use of opportunities in an increasingly digital and interconnected world. He urged teachers and parents to help the youth distinguish facts from misinformation and encourage them to use social media and technology responsibly and positively.
Rymbui further emphasised the importance of giving young people hope and confidence, saying society must ensure that they do not feel discouraged or hopeless. Instead, he said, they should be inspired to recognise their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
The Minister also appreciated the ETFI Meghalaya Chapter and the participants for organising the Food Fest, which celebrated culinary traditions and fellowship among Christian teachers. He wished the fellowship continued growth and success in its efforts to nurture and inspire teachers and the wider community.
