Khliehriat, May 27: An unidentified scooty rider died on the spot after the scooty he was riding crashed into a truck parked along the roadside at Tuber Sohshrieh village in East Jaintia Hills district.
According to reports, the accident occurred on Wednesday between 11:30 am and 12:00 noon on the highway passing through Tuber Sohshrieh village.
The scooty bearing registration number ML05 Y 5105 reportedly rammed into a truck bearing registration number NL01 AC 2237, which was parked by the roadside.
It is suspected that the accident may have been caused by overspeeding, resulting in the rider losing control of the vehicle before crashing into the truck, leading to the tragic incident.
On receiving information about the accident, East Jaintia Hills Police rushed to the spot to carry out an investigation and later shifted the body of the deceased to Khliehriat Civil Hospital for necessary procedures.
