Tura, August 4 : The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is continuing its search and rescue (SAR) operations today in Sella Wari, near Tura, West Garo Hills, for Teseng M. Sangma, an Agriculture Officer. Sangma was reportedly swept away by strong currents in the Ganol River on Sunday afternoon while attempting to cross it.
The SDRF initiated their operation yesterday at 4 PM after being activated by the West Garo Hills district administration, joining efforts with the Police and Fire and Emergency Services. Operations were suspended at 7 PM yesterday due to poor visibility.
The search recommenced today at 8 AM, with the SDRF team focusing their efforts on the downstream area of the river at Pelga Wari. Timai K Sangma, Deputy Controller of Civil Defence, West Garo Hills, is leading the SDRF team and confirmed that the operation is still underway as the officer has not yet been located.
