Shillong, May 13: Seven legislators from Meghalaya participated in the State Legislators Leadership Programme held at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, from May 10 to 12, 2026.
The residential leadership programme was jointly organised by Azim Premji University and PRS Legislative Research with the aim of strengthening the capacities of state legislators through discussions on governance, public policy, leadership and emerging developmental challenges.
The Meghalaya legislators who attended the programme included Deputy Speaker Limison D. Sangma, Mayralborn Syiem, Celestine Lyngdoh, Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, Gabriel Wahlang, Ollan Sing Suin and Matthew Beyondstar Kurbah.
The programme featured expert-led sessions on legislative responsibilities, governance and policy matters. Discussions covered topics such as effective legislative functioning, education challenges, public healthcare, public finance and budget scrutiny.
Participants also attended sessions on emerging issues including the growing impact of Artificial Intelligence in sectors such as healthcare, finance and citizen services, along with discussions on youth employment, skilling and digital communication strategies.
According to organisers, the programme aimed to encourage informed policymaking, peer learning and stronger legislative engagement to help lawmakers better address constituency concerns and contribute to broader developmental goals.
