Shillong Hosts First-Ever Skate+BMX Jam

Shillong, April 5 : Shillong made sporting history today with the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) campus hosting the inaugural Classroom Edition Skate+BMX Jam.

The event was inaugurated by Meghalaya’s Sports Minister, Shakliar Warjri, and is a collaboration between MINUSONE and the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, along with NEHU.

In his address, Minister Warjri emphasized the government’s commitment to providing a platform for youth development and investing in their potential. He expressed his belief in the power of sports to build character and shape the state’s sports ecosystem.

The groundbreaking event attracted over 70 participants from across India, including 45 riders from various states and 25 local athletes representing Meghalaya. Professional and amateur riders showcased their skills with gravity-defying tricks and technical prowess throughout the day.

The first-of-its-kind jam successfully united Shillong’s diverse youth subcultures, celebrating athletic excellence and creative expression, accompanied by live music on the NEHU campus.
