Shillong Lajong FC Edged 2–1 by Diamond Harbour FC Despite Second-Half Fightback

Shillong, March 15 : Shillong Lajong FC suffered a narrow 2–1 defeat against Diamond Harbour FC in their Indian Football League clash at SSA Stadium on Saturday evening.

The visitors made a strong start to the match as Luka Majcen struck twice early on, finding the back of the net in the 3rd minute and again in the 19th minute to give Diamond Harbour a two-goal advantage.

Shillong Lajong responded with more urgency after the break and managed to reduce the deficit in the 54th minute when Gladdy Nelcen Kharbuli scored to bring the Reds back into the contest. The home side continued to push forward in search of an equaliser, but Diamond Harbour held firm to secure all three points.

Following the result, Shillong Lajong now have four points from three matches and currently sit in fifth position on the league table.

The Reds will now head into a challenging run of fixtures away from home, with five consecutive matches on the road. Their next encounter will be against Chanmari FC on 19 March at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Aizawl with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 PM.
