Shillong, July 13 : The Deputy Commissioner of Shillong has issued an order restricting the opening hours of shops, food stalls, restaurants, and enterprises in select areas of the Shillong city to 11:30 PM. The order comes into effect on July 13, 2023, and will remain in force until further orders.
The areas affected by the order are:
- Hotel Assembly Point upto Wards Lake Via Oakland road
- Whole of Polo Hills
- Urkaliar
- Quinton Road
- Eee Cee Restaurant upto Jail Road Petrol Pump
Any violation of the order will attract penal provisions under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
The earlier order, which restricted the opening hours of shops and restaurants to 10:00 PM in and around Shillong City, has been cancelled.
The Deputy Commissioner has said that the order has been issued in order to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of Shillong. She has also said that the order will be reviewed periodically and may be modified or revoked as needed.
