Kynshi, March 17 : The Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) today inaugurated “Skillerate Connect 2025,” a two-day initiative aimed at bridging the gap between skill development and employment opportunities, at Kynshi Football Ground.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, and Shakliar Warjri, Minister of Labour, Employment & Skill Development. Dr. Lyngdoh emphasized the pivotal role of MSSDS in making Meghalaya’s communities self-reliant and announced the establishment of three new training centers in Eastern West Khasi Hills in the next financial year.
Warjri highlighted the significance of “Skillerate Connect” in addressing unemployment and nurturing talent through various training programs. He acknowledged the pervasive nature of unemployment and MSSDS’s efforts to combat it across the state.
Trainees who benefited from MSSDS programs shared their success stories. Veronica Lyngdoh Peinlang praised the free training as a “golden opportunity,” while Kyrshanborlang Marbaniang, a commis chef, credited MSSDS for funding the Northeast Institute of Professional Studies (NeIPS), which significantly enhanced his skills.
“Skillerate Connect” anticipates participation from 2,000 youth across the district. The event features over 60 exhibition stalls showcasing products from local artisans, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs, promoting self-employment and economic sustainability.
Organized by MSSDS under the Department of Labour, Employment, and Skill Development, the event aims to empower youth through skill development, employment, and entrepreneurship. The two-day initiative, running from March 17-18, 2025, marks a significant step towards building a future-ready workforce in Meghalaya.
