Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri Makes Surprise Inspection of Ampati Sports Facilities

Ampati, June 12 : Meghalaya Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri paid an unannounced visit today to the ongoing sports infrastructure projects in Ampati, South West Garo Hills. The Minister’s inspection focused on the Nagrasket Football Turf and the International Stadium, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing sports facilities, particularly in developing districts like South West Garo Hills.

Minister Warjri was accompanied by key district officials, including Dolrich B.G. Momin, Additional Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills, District Sports Officer Saljagring M. Marak, and an SSCM Assistant Engineer, among others.

During his assessment of the Nagrasket Football Turf, Minister Warjri observed the poor state of the artificial playing surface. He promptly directed the SSCM Engineer to commence immediate renovation work. The Minister emphasized that the upgraded turf should be handed over without delay to the District Sports Office and the Football Association of Ampati to ensure efficient management and public accessibility.

The Minister also visited the International Stadium site, where he expressed concerns regarding both the speed and quality of the ongoing construction. He issued instructions to SSCM to thoroughly review current activities and ensure that all remaining work adheres to stringent supervision, maintaining high standards and meeting project deadlines.

Minister Warjri underscored the critical role of quality sports infrastructure in fostering local talent and promoting a robust sports culture within the region. His visit signals a proactive approach from the state government to address and improve sports amenities across Meghalaya.
