Stakeholders Share Insights at Meghalaya’s Pre-Budget Consultation

Shillong, February 12 : The Government of Meghalaya today held the first Pre-Budget Consultation for the Financial Year 2025-26. The session was chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and provided a platform for stakeholders to share their inputs and suggestions for the upcoming state budget.

The consultation brought together representatives from various sectors, including education, agriculture, academia, economics, civil society, and media. The session also included online participation, allowing for broader public engagement.

In his keynote address, Chief Minister Sangma emphasized the importance of public input in shaping the state’s budget. He stated that the primary objective of the consultation is to ensure that the budget reflects the aspirations of the people of Meghalaya.

During the three-hour-long session, Chief Minister Sangma responded to suggestions and queries from participants, including online viewers. He encouraged citizens to submit their specific queries through the CM Connect helpline.

The Chief Minister outlined his vision for the state’s economy, emphasizing the government’s commitment to holistic economic development and job creation. He highlighted the success of Hello Meghalaya, a government-owned OTT platform, in providing opportunities for content creators and filmmakers.

Chief Minister Sangma also announced that Meghalaya has been selected to host the National Games in 2027, a testament to the state’s growing emphasis on sports infrastructure development.

The consultation concluded with a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to balanced and inclusive growth across all sectors.
