Shillong, June 23 : Four individuals have been apprehended by the Madanrting Special Party in connection with a car break-in and theft that targeted tourists from Mumbai yesterday evening. The incident, which saw ₹50,000 in cash and an iPhone 13 stolen, has been swiftly resolved with the recovery of all pilfered items.
The crime occurred at approximately 8 PM yesterday when Jay Nand Kishore Joshi and his family, along with another newlywed couple also visiting from Mumbai, parked their Innova near the Mahindra Showroom in Mawblei. They had gone for dinner at “By the Way” restaurant. Upon their return, they discovered that a window of their vehicle had been broken and their luggage, containing the cash and the iPhone, was missing.
A case was immediately registered at the Madanrting Police Station. This evening, acting on information, the Madanrting Special Party successfully apprehended four suspects from Mawblei Block B. All the stolen items and the cash were recovered during the operation.
The arrested individuals have been identified as: Chaphrang Nangkiew Sutnga (24) of Mawblei, Wanjop Kharumnuid (23) of Laitkor Nonglum, Albertstar Kharhujon (22) of Umphyrnai, Michael Nongrum (45) of Demthring Block A
