Shillong, February 2 : The Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, has announced temporary traffic diversions and restrictions along the Shillong–Dawki Road near Mahadev Khola Dham, 101 Area, Upper Shillong, due to ongoing construction work on a 250-metre stretch.
According to the official notification, the movement of trucks, including 407 and 409 vehicles as well as commercial and bazaar buses, will be diverted at 5th Mile, Upper Shillong toward Shillong Peak Road–Pomlakrai. Vehicles approaching from the MES (Rilbong) point will be rerouted through Anjalee Point–Barik Point–Dhankheti Point–Fire Brigade Point–Madanrting–Laitkor–Pomlakrai.
Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) coming from Nongstoin and Mawngap will be diverted at Mawmaram Junction toward the Lawmei–Umsaw Road. Similarly, HMVs arriving from Sohra and Pynursla will be redirected at 7th Mile, Upper Shillong toward Mawngap–Mawmaram.
Authorities have clarified that buses ferrying school children will be exempted from the restrictions and will be allowed to ply toward the MES point from Upper Shillong and vice versa.
In view of safety concerns, a speed limit of 20 kmph has been imposed for all types of vehicles along the entire 101 Area stretch.
The traffic regulations will remain in force from February 3 to February 18, 2026. The police department has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and sought public cooperation during the period.
