Shillong, November 12 : The Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, has announced a detailed traffic regulation and parking plan for the upcoming Cherry Blossom Festival 2025, to be held at J.N. Stadium, Polo on November 14 and 15, 2025.
The advisory, issued by Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, IPS, outlines key traffic diversions, entry restrictions, and parking arrangements to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety during the event.
Traffic restrictions will be enforced from 2:00 PM until the dispersal of the audience on both festival days. Several entry points and junctions will be temporarily closed to manage congestion around Polo and adjoining areas.
Key regulations include:
- No entry from Lumjingshai Junction towards CRPF Junction and Forest Colony. Vehicles will be diverted towards Lawmali Junction and beyond.
- No entry from Lawmali and Golf Link Tri-Junction towards Polo Market, with diversions through Lumjingshai, Jingthangbriew, and Jaiaw.
- No left turn from CM’s Bungalow Junction and BJP Office Junction towards Polo.
- No entry from B.K. Bajoria Junction and 4th Furlong Junction towards Polo.
- No entry from Pyhthorumkhrah Bazaar towards Wahumkhrah Bridge, and from NEEPCO Junction towards DHS.
The SP has also announced a temporary reversion of traffic at Wahumkhrah Bridge, allowing vehicles to ply towards Pynthorumkhrah Bazaar.
Only emergency service vehicles will be permitted unrestricted access.
To facilitate public convenience, the following designated parking areas will be available:
- Golf Links area (roadside)
- Red Field opposite Golf Retreat
- Near FCI road stretch
- Tiara Restaurant – CM Connect Office road stretch
- Road behind Raj Bhawan
- State Guest House
- MeECL / Lumjingshai
No Parking Zones have been declared in the following areas:
- From CM’s Bungalow Junction to Polo Towers
- From Majestic Hotel to Polo – Oakland Post Office Junction
- CRPF Junction, Polo
- From Polo to 4th Furlong
- From Polo to Lawmali Junction
- From Lawmali Junction to Lumjingshai Junction
The East Khasi Hills Police have urged residents and visitors to follow the traffic advisory, use the designated parking zones, and avoid restricted areas to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles during the Cherry Blossom Festival.
The police have also appealed to the public for cooperation, noting that these measures are temporary and aimed at ensuring public safety and ease of movement throughout the festival period.
