TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS IMPOSED FOR VICE PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO SHILLONG

Shillong, October 14 : In preparation for the visit of the Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, to Shillong and Sohra on October 16th and 17th, 2024, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has implemented temporary traffic arrangements.

To ensure the safe and smooth passage of the VVIP, the STP has implemented the following traffic restrictions and diversions on October 16, 2024:

  • Diversion at Y.W.C.A. Junction: Vehicles traveling towards Gurudwara Junction will be diverted towards Raj Bhawan, AIR Junction, and beyond.
  • Diversion at Gurudwara Junction: Vehicles traveling towards Y.W.C.A. Junction will be diverted towards AIR Junction, IGP Point, and beyond.
  • Diversion at Golflink/Pynthorbah/BDW School Junction: Vehicles heading towards Lailad Nongmensong will be diverted towards Pynthor Bazaar, Behind J.N. Stadium, Wahumkhrah Bridge, and beyond.
  • Diversion at Ishyrwat Junction: Vehicles traveling towards Nongmensong Bazaar will be diverted towards BSF Mawpat/Umpling road and beyond.
  • Diversion at Shillong Commerce College Junction: Vehicles heading towards Nongmensong Bazaar will be diverted towards BSF Mawpat/Umpling road and beyond.
  • Diversion at Shillong Commerce College Junction: Vehicles heading towards B. K. Bajoria Junction will be diverted towards Shillong Commerce College and beyond.
  • Diversion at MES Junction, Nongrim Hills: Vehicles heading towards DAD Junction (Demsieniong) will be diverted towards Nongrim Hills/Goralane and beyond.
  • Diversion at B. K. Bajoria towards 4th Furlong Junction: Vehicles will be diverted towards Shillong Commerce College and beyond.

In addition to these diversions, all types of heavy and medium motor vehicles, including essential goods vehicles, gas cylinder vehicles, oil tankers, FCI trucks, and local mini trucks, will not be allowed to ply towards Shillong city and Sohra on October 16th and 17th, 2024, until the departure of the VVIP.

The Shillong Traffic Police regrets any inconvenience caused by these traffic arrangements and requests the public to cooperate and follow the designated routes to minimize disruptions during the Vice President’s visit.
