Shillong, October 04 : Police in Lumshnong P.S have seized 44,900 bottles of banned Phynysedyl from a truck that was abandoned by its driver after a short chase. The truck had the same registration number as another truck that was coming from the opposite direction.
The incident took place on NH-06 near Lumshnong Police Station on Tuesday evening. Police received information from a Naka guide that two trucks with the same registration number JK02 AU 5651 were coming from opposite directions.
Police signaled the two trucks to stop for verification, but only one of the trucks stopped. The other truck refused to comply and drove rashly ahead. Police pursued the truck, and the driver abandoned it on the NH and fled.
Police searched the truck in the presence of an independent witness and a Gazetted Police Officer. They found 150 bags containing 44,900 bottles of 100 ml each of banned Phynysedyl.
Police have registered a case at Lumshnong PS and are investigating to identify and arrest the accused persons.
