U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy: Meghalaya bounce back for victory over Arunachal

Shillong, October 29: Cheanchi Kambesa Sangma delivered with bat and ball to help Meghalaya to victory by 31 runs over Arunachal Pradesh in the U-19 Women’s T20 Trophy 2025-26 plate group in Lucknow today. 

Cheanchi made 30 not out with the bat and took 3/12 in the second innings to give Meghalaya their first win after losing their opening two matches to Sikkim and Manipur. 

Meghalaya were made to bat first after Arunachal won the toss and elected to field. Monica Singh struck 27 from 24 deliveries and Jayshee Singh 14 from 32 before Cheanchi’s unbeaten 30 from 39 balls saw Meghalaya post 91/6 in their allotted 20 overs. 

Though a small target, it was enough to give the bowlers something to defend and defend it they did by restricting Arunachal to 60/9 in 20 overs. 

Kino Nanung was Arunachal’s top scorer with 27 from 44 balls. The Meghalaya bowler with the best figures was Jayshree, who took 3/9 in 4 overs, with Cheanchi also bowling her full quota of 4 overs for 3/12. The other two wicket-takers were Fennysha Nongrum (1/8 in 4 overs) and Banchila R Marak (1/12 in 4). 

Meghalaya will next face Nagaland on Friday.
