Shillong, July 30 : Police in East Jaintia Hills and North Garo Hills have reported the recovery of three suspected stolen motorcycles in separate incidents, underscoring ongoing efforts to combat vehicle theft across Meghalaya. Investigations are currently underway to identify the rightful owners and apprehend those responsible.
In East Jaintia Hills, vigilant officers and staff of the Umkiang Police Patrol Point (PPP) recovered two abandoned motorcycles today. While on mobile patrolling duty, police discovered the bikes hidden deep inside thick bushes in Dona Skur village. Upon close inspection, both vehicles were found with tampered ignition systems and fuel tanks, strongly indicating they had been stolen.
The recovered motorcycles include:
- Royal Enfield Hunter with Registration No: AS 11AD 0356
- Bajaj Pulsar 150 CC with Registration No: AS 11S 0501
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding these vehicles or their owners to contact PCR Khliehriat or the nearest Police Station to assist in the ongoing investigation.
Separately, in North Garo Hills, the patrolling party of Bajengdoba Police Station recovered a Black Pulsar 220CC bike on July 29, 2025, at approximately 1:00 AM in the Merongdigre area. The vehicle was immediately suspected to be stolen. Further inquiry confirmed that the bike had been reported stolen from the Dudhnoi area, and a case (Case No. 29/2025 u/s 303(2) BNS) has been registered at Dudhnoi Police Station. The recovered motorcycle has since been handed over to officers from Dudhnoi Police Station for further investigation.
