Unidentified Body Discovered Near Kuliang, NH-06

Khliehriat, May 20 : A suspected dead body was discovered on May 18, 2025, near the Kuliang area on National Highway-06.

According to the police report, at approximately 7:00 AM, a passenger traveling from Mizoram in a Tata Sumo stopped near roadside bushes at Kuliang to attend to nature’s call. The passenger detected a foul odor and found a blanket-wrapped body, prompting an immediate report to the Umkiang Police Patrol Post (PPP) staff.

SI P. Phawa and accompanying staff responded to the scene, located about 8 km from the Kuliang PPP on NH-06. An inquest revealed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, and no visible injuries were immediately apparent.

The deceased is estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old, approximately 5’5″ tall, with a medium build and fair complexion. The deceased was wearing a black trouser, a green T-shirt, and a white thread around the waist, suggesting possible Hindu spiritual beliefs.

Following the inquest, the body was transported to Civil Hospital, Khliehriat, for a post-mortem examination. The body is currently being held in the hospital morgue for identification.
