Shillong, May 11: The Dorbar Shnong Lachaumiere has issued a community information notice announcing the prohibition of entry of all types of vehicles towards Lachaumiere via the Dhankheti–DIPR Office route beginning May 12, 2026.
According to the notice, the restriction will remain in force 24 hours a day until completion of ongoing construction work being undertaken by the Public Works Department (PWD), Shillong Central Division.
The project involves the construction of an aqueduct channel with RCC slab cover and tiling along Old Jowai Road, stretching from the AIR junction to Loreto Convent School junction.
Authorities stated that the work is necessary for strengthening road infrastructure and ensuring long-term improvements in the locality.
The Dorbar Shnong has urged residents and commuters to cooperate during the execution period and follow traffic guidelines and diversions issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Traffic Police.
The notice further stated that public cooperation would help ensure smooth traffic flow and timely completion of the project.
The advisory was issued by Secretary of Dorbar Shnong Lachaumiere, Orestar Jala Kharbhih.
