West Garo Hills Police Bust Drug Peddlers; Heroin Worth Over 53 gms Seized

Tura, September 22 : The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of West Garo Hills District carried out a major operation on September 20, intercepting a drug consignment and arresting two key suspects under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Acting on credible intelligence, ANTF personnel set up a naka checking point at Kokaimari under Phulbari Police Station. They intercepted a Maruti Celerio (AS01FQ 8148) arriving from Guwahati. Upon a thorough search, the team recovered five soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing 53.67 grams, hidden beneath a passenger seat.

The vehicle carried five occupants: Noboruddin (Driver, Sahidur Islam (32), son of (L) Fozol Sheikh, Phulbari, West Garo Hills, Nazim Uddin Laskar (39), son of (L) Namar Ali Laskar, Nurjan Bibi Laskar and a minor child.

Initial investigation revealed that the contraband had been collected at Guwahati ISBT and was intended for delivery to an individual named Fazadur of Gomaijhora, West Garo Hills.

Sahidur Islam and Nazim Uddin Laskar were arrested on the spot, and a case under Phulbari PS No. 40/2025 has been registered under the NDPS Act.

The seized drugs, vehicle, and other belongings were taken into custody following all legal procedures. The arrested individuals were produced before the court on September 21, 2025.
