Khliehriat, June 26 : On June 25, 2023, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and the Lumshnong Police arrested two men in Lumshnong, Meghalaya, with 100 kgs of marijuana. Mithan Debnath (34 Yrs) and Mintu Debnath (35 Yrs) both from Tripura were traveling from Silchar in a Hyundai Santro car bearing registration number AS-11-C-5741 when they were stopped by the police. A search of the car revealed the marijuana, which was concealed in different compartments. A preliminary test confirmed that the substance was marijuana.
The two men have been booked under Section 20(b)(ii)(C)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They have been remanded in police custody.
The ANTF and the Lumshnong Police are investigating the case to trace the source of the marijuana and the people involved in its transportation.
