Shillong, April 25: The 2nd Senior East Zone National Roll Ball Championship 2026 concluded successfully at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Basketball Court in Shillong, marking a significant boost for the sport in the region.
Held over two days on April 24 and 25, the championship witnessed participation from teams representing Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, Meghalaya, and Nagaland. The tournament featured high-intensity matches, showcasing skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the players.
In the men’s category, Jharkhand emerged as champions, while Assam secured the first runner-up position. Meghalaya and Odisha finished as joint second runners-up.
In the women’s category, Assam clinched the title, with Jharkhand finishing as first runner-up and Meghalaya securing the second runner-up position.
The closing ceremony was graced by Sanjib Kakaty, faculty at IIM Shillong, as the chief guest, who encouraged the participants and lauded the organisers for successfully hosting the event.
The Meghalaya Roll Ball Association expressed gratitude to all participating teams, officials, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters for their contributions. The association also acknowledged the role of media and spectators in making the event a success.
The championship highlighted the growing popularity of Roll Ball in the region and reaffirmed efforts to promote sportsmanship and athletic excellence.
