BSF Nabs Four Bangladeshi Nationals, Including Tout, in South Garo Hills

Shillong, March 13 : The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya has successfully apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals, including a tout, near the international border in South Garo Hills, thwarting an attempt at illegal infiltration.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops from the 200th Battalion BSF, in coordination with Baghmara Mobile Check Post (MCP), launched a targeted operation on March 12, 2025. The operation resulted in the interception of a Tata Winger vehicle suspected of facilitating the illegal crossing.

Upon thorough inspection, the BSF personnel apprehended four Bangladeshi nationals, one of whom was identified as a tout involved in orchestrating the illegal entry. The vehicle used in the attempt was also seized.

The apprehended individuals, along with the seized vehicle and recovered items, have been handed over to the Baghmara Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.

“This successful operation highlights the BSF’s unwavering commitment to securing the international border and preventing unauthorized entries,” stated a spokesperson from BSF Meghalaya. “We remain vigilant and dedicated to ensuring national security and maintaining law and order in the border areas.”

The BSF continues to work closely with local law enforcement agencies to maintain a strong presence along the border and combat cross-border criminal activities.
