Shillong, June 18 : In a bid to streamline the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examinations for the 2025–26 academic session, the Meghalaya Government’s Education Department, led by Commissioner & Secretary Vijay Kumar Mantri, IAS, issued key clarifications following the decision to hold the exams in December 2025.
1. Submission of Exam Forms
School authorities are required to forward SSLC examination forms to the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) during August and September. A detailed schedule will be communicated by MBOSE.
2. Selection Tests for Affiliated Schools
Affiliated schools have the flexibility to conduct their own internal selection tests, including half-yearly and periodic assessments. However, ongoing internal evaluation is encouraged, and conducting a separate selection test is not mandatory. Schools without affiliation will follow the same format via tests administered by their District School Education Officers (DSEOs), as implemented in 2024.
3. Exam Date Window
The main SSLC examinations will commence in the second week of December 2025 and conclude on or before December 19, 2025. The final timetable will shortly be released by MBOSE.
4. Result Declaration Timeline
Evaluation of answer scripts will begin after the Christmas holidays, starting the second week of January 2026, ensuring the festive period remains undisturbed. Results for the main SSLC examination are expected by the third week of February 2026.
5. Supplementary Examination Schedule
A supplementary examination will be conducted in March 2026, with results announced by the first week of April 2026, allowing sufficient time for Class XI academic sessions to begin without delay.
The notification reflects the State Government’s effort to provide clarity and structure around exam schedules, ensuring schools and students in Meghalaya are well-prepared for the forthcoming academic cycle.
