Chief Minister Calls for Collaborative Effort to Revolutionize Education in the State

Tura, June 19: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today convened an Education Conclave in Tura, engaging with key stakeholders and government officials to chart a course for elevating the standard of education across the state. The conclave saw the presence of Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma, Dr. Vasanthi Vijaykumar, Vice Chancellor of Captain Williamson Sangma State University, and other senior officials.

During his address, Chief Minister Sangma underscored the pivotal role of education in shaping the minds of the younger generation. He highlighted Meghalaya’s youthful demographic, acknowledging it as both a significant opportunity and a challenge. Sangma emphasized the critical need to capitalize on this demographic dividend by providing quality education and essential skills to the youth, thereby transforming a potential challenge into a powerful asset for the state’s future.

The Chief Minister detailed the government’s ongoing initiatives to transform the education sector. These include the renovation of government schools and colleges, the establishment of the Captain Williamson Sangma State University, and substantial investments in sports and music infrastructure. “Our interventions aim to channelize the positive energy of our youth,” he stated.

Sangma also stressed the importance of collaboration and partnership, particularly with organizations like the Mothers’ Union, to enhance learning outcomes. “The government is keen to work in collaboration with the community. A collaboration would mean to work in partnership with the government to improve learning outcomes,” he affirmed. Reinforcing this commitment, an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with Mothers’ Union Tura for the management of 20 Government LP Schools.

The conclave served as a platform for the launch of several key initiatives, including the Meghalaya School Quality Assessment and Accreditation Framework (MSQAAF) and the CM IMPACT Meghalaya Learning Enhancement Programme (M-LEP). Additionally, educational tablets were distributed to students with special educational needs, ensuring more inclusive learning opportunities.

Chief Minister Sangma urged all stakeholders to work in unison to overcome the challenges confronting the education sector and to collectively contribute to the state’s development. He reiterated that education remains a critical pillar of the government’s development agenda, underscoring the state’s unwavering commitment to investing in its youth.

The conclave facilitated a crucial forum for brainstorming and discussion, focusing on finding practical solutions and fostering a collaborative approach to achieve common goals in the education sector.
