Jowai, November 10 : As part of the Government of Meghalaya’s ongoing efforts to promote citizen-centric governance, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma held the Block-Level CM Connect Programme at Amlarem Civil Sub-Division, West Jaintia Hills District, today. The programme coincided with the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Amlarem Civil Sub-Division, drawing enthusiastic participation from community leaders, departmental heads, and residents from across the region.
The CM Connect initiative serves as a direct interface between the government and the public, allowing citizens to raise grievances, seek information, and receive time-bound responses from officials. During the session, the Chief Minister was joined by Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, C&RD Minister Sosthenes Sohtun, Director of C&RD Sibhi C. Sadhu, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Kumar Singh, IAS, and SDO (Civil) Amlarem, Anendya Raajsshre, IAS.
Together, they interacted with villagers and community members on a wide range of issues spanning water supply, education, healthcare, infrastructure, power, livelihoods, and women’s empowerment.
Citizens raised pressing issues including irregular water distribution under JJM, shortage of teachers, incomplete school infrastructure, and inadequate healthcare services in remote villages.
Responding to these concerns, the Chief Minister directed immediate departmental action, including: Posting of a Medical Officer at Padu Dispensary, Review of JJM schemes to ensure source adequacy and Ensuring power connections to all Anganwadi Centres in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma underscored the importance of responsive and transparent governance, noting that “CM Connect is about listening to people’s issues first-hand and acting swiftly to resolve them.”
He announced a grant of ₹10 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CM-SDF) for the construction of a Cluster Level Federation building to support women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Amlarem. The initiative, he said, aims to strengthen grassroots entrepreneurship and economic self-reliance among women.
Highlighting future plans, the Chief Minister announced that CM Connect Centres will be established in all 56 blocks of Meghalaya. These centres will act as physical one-stop hubs for grievance redressal and access to government schemes.
