Shillong, November 11 : The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides marked a historic milestone as it celebrated its 75th Foundation Day (Diamond Jubilee) alongside the Rajya Puraskar Rally at the lawns of Raj Bhavan, Shillong. The event was graced by the Governor of Meghalaya, C. H. Vijayashankar, who presented the prestigious Rajya Puraskar (Governor’s Award) to deserving Scouts and Guides from across the State.
A total of 305 young achievers — including 80 Scouts and 225 Guides from various schools in Meghalaya — were recognized for their exceptional commitment, discipline, and community service. Adding to the pride of the occasion, two Guides from Ri Bhoi District received the Rashtrapati (President’s Award), the highest national honour in Scouting and Guiding.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Vijayashankar commended the Scouts and Guides for their pivotal role in shaping a better world through discipline, service, and moral leadership. He emphasized the importance of environmental preservation, urging youth to take proactive roles in tree planting and green initiatives to ensure a sustainable future.
In his speech, the Governor congratulated the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides on reaching their Diamond Jubilee, lauding their unwavering dedication to youth empowerment and character building. He also assured continued support from Raj Bhavan to advance Scouting and Guiding initiatives throughout the State.
The event, organized by the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, brought together leaders, educators, and students in a spirit of unity and pride. The Diamond Jubilee not only marked 75 years of service but also reaffirmed the movement’s enduring mission of fostering responsible citizens and community builders.
