Shillong, November 16: Meghalaya’s two guest professionals, Rahul Dalal and Ajay Duhan, both made centuries on the first day of their Ranji Trophy 2025-26 plate group match against Manipur in Surat today.
Rahul bludgeoned 151 from 146 balls in an innings that included 23 fours and three sixes, while Ajay’s more patient 102 came off 184 deliveries and included 13 fours.
Meghalaya won the toss and batted first, posting 359/5 in 90 overs.
Arien Bonchang Sangma (31 from 56) and Arpit Bhatewara (33 from 64) opened the batting for Meghalaya and put on 61 in the opening stand. Arien was out first before Arpit followed a few overs after and Kishan Lyngdoh (6) was dismissed cheaply, reducing Meghalaya to 74/3.
Rahul and Ajay then spoiled Manipur’s day with a huge 247-run partnership for the fourth wicket as they hit the bowlers to all corners of the CK Pithawala Ground.
Both were removed by Johnson Singh (2/21 in 5 overs) and at stumps Meghalaya had Swastic Chettri (14 not out) and Kusha Agarwal (18 not out) in the middle.
