Shillong, January 27 : The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly has finalised the schedule for the Budget Session 2026, which will be held from February 16 to February 27, 2026.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, was chaired by the Speaker, Thomas A. Sangma, and attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Prestone Tynsong. Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma, and Member Paul Lyngdoh also participated in the meeting via online mode.
Announcing the details, the Speaker informed that the ten-day session will consist of seven days of Government business and three days of Private Members’ business. He further stated that the State Budget 2026–27 will be presented on February 20, 2026.
The Speaker added that the House may extend its sitting hours, if necessary, to facilitate comprehensive discussions and effective participation by all members. On the day when the Supplementary Demand for Grants is taken up, the session will be extended till 3:00 PM.
The meeting was also attended by Cyril V. Darlong Diengdoh, Commissioner & Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs Department; Dr. Andrew Simons, Commissioner & Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly; and Malthus S. Sangma, Secretary, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
