Shillong, February 7 : The Meghalaya Revenue and Disaster Management Department, in coordination with the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs), will conduct a Multi-State Level Mock Exercise on an earthquake scenario on February 9.
The drill is being organised in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), New Delhi, to strengthen preparedness and response mechanisms across the State.
According to officials, the exercise will commence from the State Guest House, Taraghar, Shillong at 12:30 PM onwards. For East Khasi Hills district, the designated site will be Mawphlang C&RD Block.
Authorities have appealed to the public not to panic, clarifying that the activity is only a preparedness exercise aimed at improving coordination among various agencies and enhancing disaster response capabilities.
