Curfew to Continue Until March 16 in West Garo Hills; Relaxation on March 15 from 6 AM to 6 PM

Tura, March 14: The District Administration of West Garo Hills has extended the curfew across the entire district following reports of violence and disturbances affecting public peace and safety.

According to an official order issued by District Magistrate Vibhor Aggarwal, IAS, the curfew has been extended as a preventive measure to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation of violence. Authorities stated that incidents of unrest in various parts of the district posed a serious threat to human life, public safety, and property.

As per the order, the curfew will remain in force from 6:00 AM on March 15, 2026, until 6:00 AM on March 16, 2026 across the jurisdiction of West Garo Hills district unless withdrawn earlier by authorities. During this period, residents have been instructed not to move outside their homes within the district limits.

However, the administration has announced a temporary relaxation of the curfew from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on March 15, 2026 to allow residents to carry out essential activities and regular public movement.

All law enforcement agencies, executive magistrates, and police personnel have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew order and take necessary action against anyone found violating it.

Officials also warned that any violation of the order will attract penal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant provisions of law.
