Tura, March 16: The West Garo Hills District Police have issued a clarification regarding a Facebook video post titled “Breaking news: Garo Hills ni obosta jatna namanina kam kagipa dilgipako indake dakjok. GARO HILLS NI MANDERANG MAIKO DAKGEN.” which has been widely circulated on social media.
In a press release, the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, Tura stated that the house search shown in the viral video was carried out strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. The operation was led by a senior police officer and conducted under proper videography while following all required legal procedures.
According to the Police, the search was also carried out in the presence of independent witnesses, and family members of the house were present and accompanied the police personnel throughout the entire process.
The SP further stated that the video appears to have been circulated with malafide intentions to mislead the public and spread false information against the Police Department.
Authorities have urged the public not to be influenced by misleading or incomplete information being shared on social media platforms.
The police also informed that any individual or organization wishing to verify the facts can approach the District Police through proper channels to view the official video recording of the search.
Reaffirming its commitment, the West Garo Hills District Police said it remains dedicated to maintaining transparency and upholding the rule of law while carrying out its duties.
