Khliehriat, March 17: An unidentified male body was discovered at a betel nut farm in Thwailangtuk, Donaskur village of East Jaintia Hills District on the morning of March 13, police said.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills District, the body was found at around 6:40 AM, about 1.5 kilometres from National Highway-06.
Police stated that the deceased appeared to be a non-tribal male aged between 35 and 40 years. An inquest was conducted at the spot in the presence of witnesses, following which the body was sent to Civil Hospital, Khliehriat for post-mortem examination after completing the required legal formalities.
The body has since been kept at the hospital morgue of Khliehriat Community Health Centre while authorities wait for relatives or anyone who may recognize the deceased to come forward and claim the body.
Police said the deceased remains unidentified and provided the following details:
- Age: Approximately 35–40 years
- Build: Thin
- Clothing: Green T-shirt, white vest and black pants
The East Jaintia Hills Police have appealed to the public to assist in identifying the deceased. Anyone with information is requested to contact the police immediately.
