Shillong, March 24: Fourteen women kickboxing medallists from Meghalaya departed for Chennai on Tuesday morning to participate in the Khelo India ASMITA Women’s National Kickboxing League 2025–26, scheduled to be held from March 26 to 29 in Tamil Nadu. The athletes qualified for the national league after delivering strong performances at the Khelo India ASMITA Women’s Zonal League (East Zone), held in Siliguri from February 26 to March 1, where participants from 11 states competed.
The Meghalaya contingent is being led by team coach Ms. Ibadahunshisha Rani. The 14 athletes representing the state across various categories are Daniella I. Wanda Mylliemngap – Low Kick (Senior Female, 60 kg), Medariphylla Lyngdoh Nongbri – Low Kick (Senior Female, 56 kg), Isapynbiang Lyngdoh – Point Fighting (Younger Cadet, 28 kg), Baiahunlang Mylliemngap – Low Kick (Senior Female, 65 kg), Damansani Kharsahnoh – Point Fighting (Senior Female, 45 kg), Ineshabahun Dkhar – Low Kick (Senior Female, 52 kg), Rikyntiew Nongrum – Point Fighting (Senior Female, 55 kg), Iaribynta Kharsahnoh – Point Fighting (Senior Female, 50 kg), Ariana N. Marwein – Light Contact (Older Cadet, 46 kg), Mandasumar Nongphud – Musical Form (Children, Hard Style), Emiliana Papang – Point Fighting (Junior Female, 45 kg), Lidia Wahlang – Low Kick (Junior Female, 52 kg), Phidari Rani – Low Kick (Junior Female, 52 kg), Emiliana Susngi – Low Kick (Junior Female, 44 kg).
The medal winners will receive direct benefit transfers from the Sports Authority of India, with cash awards of ₹8,000, ₹6,000, and ₹4,000 for gold, silver, and bronze medallists respectively.
Ahead of their departure, a warm send-off tea party was hosted by Hotel Assembly in collaboration with the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association. The athletes were extended best wishes by officials, including the President of the Meghalaya Paralympics Association.
Kickboxing’s inclusion in the Khelo India ASMITA League, a Government of India initiative, aims to promote and strengthen women’s participation in sports. The platform provides female athletes an opportunity to compete at the national level and gain wider recognition.
