Festival to be held at Ward’s Lake, Shillong on March 27–28
Shillong, March 26: The Department of Tourism, Government of Meghalaya, in collaboration with Meghalayan Age Limited (MAL), has announced the upcoming edition of Culinary Cascade 2026, scheduled to take place on March 27–28 at Ward’s Lake in Shillong.
Over the past two years, Culinary Cascade has emerged as a flagship initiative aimed at promoting cuisine, culture, and community engagement. The festival is designed to create sustainable opportunities for local communities, farmers, and food entrepreneurs while boosting Meghalaya’s tourism sector.
This year’s edition will coincide with SEETI Meghalaya, a six-day cultural immersion programme beginning March 26. A major highlight will be the ‘SEETI Table’, offering specially curated dining experiences focused on immersive culinary journeys.
The festival is conceptualised around the theme “A Living Bridge of Senses,” drawing inspiration from Meghalaya’s iconic living root bridges. It aims to deliver a multi-sensory experience through interactive installations engaging sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch.
Key attractions of the two-day event include culinary dialogues, innovation showcases, product launches, and interactive food installations. A special ‘Food Museum’ will present Meghalaya’s rich food heritage through live recreations, digital storytelling, and chef-led interactions.
Visitors will experience a wide range of indigenous Khasi, Jaintia, and Garo cuisines, along with contemporary dishes, street food, local beverages, and artisanal products. The festival will also provide a platform for local producers to enhance visibility and strengthen market linkages.
Building on the success of previous editions, the event will continue to highlight indigenous knowledge, sustainable practices, and culinary innovation. The initiative aligns with the state government’s broader vision of strengthening a sustainable tourism ecosystem and positioning Meghalaya on the global tourism map.
