Shillong, April 10 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today felicitated the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination 2026 toppers from the Khasi and Jaintia Hills region at a programme attended by Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui and Commissioner & Secretary, Education, Vijay Kumar Mantri, along with parents, teachers, and officials from the Education Department.
Congratulating the toppers on their achievement, the Chief Minister said that a few years ago the pass percentage in SSLC examinations was very low, which had deeply concerned him. “It was very sad to see the low pass percentage, but things have started improving and I am positive that in the long run we will be able to bring about significant changes in the education scenario,” he said.
He also informed that a similar felicitation programme for toppers from Garo Hills will be held on April 18, 2026, in Tura.
Stating that the purpose of the programme was to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work and perseverance of the students, he urged the toppers to continue with discipline, persistence, dedication, and diligence. “Remember to follow your heart and passion in life, yet remain humble and grounded,” he added while concluding his address.
