Nongpoh, April 25 : Two youths lost their lives in a tragic road accident after the motorcycle they were riding rammed into the rear of a truck along National Highway at 15 Mile in Ri-Bhoi district on Saturday afternoon.
According to reports, the incident occurred at around 3 PM when the victims, travelling on an unregistered motorcycle and reportedly without helmets, collided with a truck bearing registration number ML 11 A 1367. The truck was being driven by Prakesh Paudel of Lum Nongrim, Umsning.
One of the victims, identified as Riki Amchi, who was riding pillion, died on the spot. The other rider, Nikunja Boro, succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. Both the deceased were residents of Assam.
The bodies have been shifted to Civil Hospital, Nongpoh, for post-mortem examination, while police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
