Shillong, May 25: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) – Central Executive Council (CEC) has inducted several new office bearers and executive members into the organisation following a meeting of the newly elected leadership held at the union’s headquarters in Jaiaw on May 23, 2026.
According to a press statement issued by KSU General Secretary Reuben A. Najiar, the newly inducted members include James H. Mawphniang as Legal Affairs Secretary and Iashanborlang Mukhim as Finance Secretary.
The union also appointed several assistant secretaries including Eddie Malngiang, Jeremaiah Pohthmi, Melajied Khongbuh and Sandy Sohtun as Assistant Organising Secretaries, while Andrew Gary Dkhar was appointed Assistant Education Secretary.
Kevin Nelson Wanrap and Pynshngain L. Lyngkhoi were appointed Assistant Information and Publicity Secretaries, while Shelkitbok Kharbani was named Assistant Environment Secretary.
The KSU further appointed Badonbok Malngiang and Nangshngain Lakiang as Assistant Sports and Cultural Secretaries, while Ostarnic Marbaniang, Spaindarsing Lyngkhoi and Hopefulborn L. Mawnai were appointed Assistant Finance Secretaries.
Several executive members were also inducted into the CEC, including Badonkupar L. Nongbri, John Nongsiang, Forwardman Nongrem, Shemphang Nonglang, Ferdynald Kharkamni, Streamly Suchen and Laitphar Syngkrem.
During the meeting, the KSU also constituted various organisational cells. Spaindarsing Lyngkhoi was appointed Chairman of the Farmers & Consumer Cell with Shiningstar Kharihkhiew as Secretary, while Hopefulborn L. Mawnai and Sandy Sohtun were appointed Chairman and Secretary respectively of the Employment & Monitoring Cell.
The union further appointed incharge members from the CEC to oversee district units and strengthen organisational activities across Khasi and Jaintia Hills.
According to the statement, the newly inducted office bearers for the 2026–2029 term will be formally sworn in by former KSU leader and North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) chairman Samuel Jyrwa on June 6, 2026 at Soso Tham Auditorium in Shillong.
