No-Drone Zone Declared Around State Convention Centre for NEC Plenary Meeting

Shillong, June 3: The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills has declared a No-Drone Zone within a radius of three kilometres from the State Convention Centre, Shillong, in view of the 73rd Plenary Meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC).

The order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), will remain in force from June 3 to June 5, 2026.

According to the order, the restriction has been imposed as a security measure due to the presence of several VVIPs and dignitaries attending the NEC Plenary Meeting being held at the State Convention Centre during the three-day period.

Authorities stated that the operation, flying or use of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles within the notified area will be prohibited throughout the duration of the order.

The District Administration said the order has come into force with immediate effect and will remain effective until June 5, 2026.

The public has been urged to comply with the directive and cooperate with authorities to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the high-level regional meeting.
