MLCU Observes World Environment Day with Cleaning Drive and Awareness Campaign

Shillong, June 5: Martin Luther Christian University observed World Environment Day 2026 through a Cleaning Drive and Environmental Awareness Campaign organized by its NSS Unit and Student Wellbeing Office at the Umsawli Campus on Friday.

The programme was aimed at promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and a sense of collective responsibility towards protecting the environment. Students, faculty members, and staff actively participated in the initiative, contributing towards maintaining a cleaner and greener campus.

Participants from various departments enthusiastically joined the cleaning drive and awareness activities conducted across the campus premises. The drive covered the Umsawli Campus and its surrounding areas, focusing on cleanliness, proper waste management, and environmental conservation.

The programme also highlighted the importance of sustainable living practices and encouraged participants to adopt environmentally responsible habits in their daily lives.

The university administration appreciated the active involvement and cooperation of all departments, faculty members, staff, and students in making the event a success.
