Traffic Restrictions Announced in Shillong for North East India Infrastructure Summit 2026

Shillong, June 12: The East Khasi Hills Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of the North East India Infrastructure Summit & Exhibition 2026, which will be held on June 15 and 16 at LARITI, Mawkasiang and SRGT Parking Lot, Polo, Shillong.

According to Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem, the summit is expected to be attended by Union Ministers, VVIPs, dignitaries, delegates, exhibitors and visitors from across the Northeast and other parts of the country.

In view of the movement of official convoys along the Umsawli–Mawkasiang–NEIGRIHMS–Polo corridor during the summit period, members of the public travelling from Umsawli, Mawkasiang, NEIGRIHMS and Nongmensong towards Polo have been advised to use alternate routes via Mawpat–Golf-links or Langkyrding Pynthorumkhrah to avoid traffic congestion and delays.

To facilitate smooth traffic movement around the Polo area, the police have also announced the following traffic regulations for June 15:

  • No Entry at Lumjingshai Junction for vehicles proceeding towards Forest Colony. Such vehicles will be diverted through LawmaliPolo and beyond.
  • No Entry at Lumjingshai Junction for vehicles heading towards CRPF Junction. They will also be diverted via Lawmali–Polo and beyond.

The police have sought the cooperation of citizens to ensure the smooth conduct of the regional event and stated that any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.
