Shillong, June 12: Amlarem Police recovered three suspected stolen motorcycles during a routine checking drive conducted along the Leshka–Pdengshakap Road after the riders abandoned the vehicles and fled during a police chase.
According to police, the motorcycles were intercepted during a routine vehicle checking operation. However, upon spotting the police, the riders allegedly fled the scene, leaving behind the motorcycles.
The recovered vehicles include a KTM Duke 200 (Chassis No. MD2JYCXK7NC006822), a Royal Enfield motorcycle (Chassis No. ME3J3D5FES1009622), and a Royal Enfield Hunter (Chassis No. ME3J3D5FAP1017813).
Police have launched an investigation to trace the suspects and identify the rightful owners of the motorcycles.
In a public advisory, Meghalaya Police urged vehicle owners to install GPS tracking devices in their vehicles, noting that one of the recovered motorcycles was successfully traced through GPS technology, which helped police recover it swiftly.
