Meghalaya Govt Reshuffles Senior Bureaucracy; Shivansh Awasthi Given Additional Charge as IPR Director

Shillong, July 1: The Meghalaya Government has carried out a major reshuffle in the senior bureaucracy, including changes in the Information and Public Relations (IPR), Health, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, and other key departments.

According to a notification issued by the Personnel & A.R. (A) Department on June 30, IAS officer Shivansh Awasthi (RR: 2019), Joint Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, has been given the additional charge of Director, Information and Public Relations (IPR) with effect from the date he takes over charge and until further orders.

Batlang S. Sohliya, IAS (SCS: 2012), Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Mining & Geology and other departments, was relieved of his responsibilities as Director of Information and Public Relations from the date of handing over charge.

The reshuffle also includes changes in the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department. Frederick Roy Kharkongor, IAS (RR: 2000) has been relieved of his duties as Principal Secretary of the department, while Mebanshailang R. Synrem, IAS (RR: 2002) has been assigned the additional charge of Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department.

Further, Sibhi Chakravarthy Sadhu, IAS (RR: 2011), Secretary to the Government in the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Director, Meghalaya State Lottery with immediate effect and until further orders.

In the Health sector, Ramkumar S., IAS (RR: 2013), Secretary to the Government, has been appointed as Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM) and Managing Director, Meghalayan Medical Drugs & Medical Services Limited (MMDMSL), while continuing as Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department.

Consequently, Ramakrishna Chitturi, IAS (RR: 2016) has been relieved of his responsibilities as Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Mission Director of NHM, and Managing Director of MMDMSL from the date of handing over charge.
