Pynursla, August 10: The Laitlyngkot–Lyngkyrdem stretch of the Shillong-Dawki Road (NH-206) has been reopened for all vehicular traffic from August 10, 2026, following a joint inspection by officials of the NHIDCL, PWD (Roads), Pynursla Division and other concerned authorities.
According to a public notice issued by the Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, the reopening covers the stretch between Chainage Km 24+00 and Km 37+00.
The decision follows a joint inspection conducted on August 8, after which authorities assessed the condition of the road and permitted vehicular movement to resume.
However, the existing night closure will continue from 10 PM to 5 AM for all vehicles. Commuters have been asked to strictly follow the notified traffic timings and directions issued by the administration.
The administration has also cautioned motorists to exercise extreme care while travelling along the stretch due to the ongoing monsoon season and the increased risk of landslides, rockfalls and road instability.
Members of the public have been advised to avoid non-essential travel during periods of heavy rainfall, immediately after rainfall and during night hours.
Emergency vehicles, including ambulances, fire services and police vehicles, may be permitted to travel during the closure period subject to a safety assessment by officials at the site.
The administration has urged the public to cooperate with the traffic regulations, which are being enforced both for public safety and to facilitate the timely completion of ongoing road construction works.
