Shillong, August 31: Several roads in and around Sohra will remain closed to vehicular traffic on September 4 from 4:30 am to 10 am in view of the 5th Sohra Half International Half Marathon.
The Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Sohra Civil Sub-Division, issued a public notice on Monday informing travellers, tourists and members of the public about the temporary traffic restrictions.
According to the notice, the following roads will remain closed during the specified period:
- Mawkdok towards Sohra from Laitsohpliah, near Meili Resort
- Mawkma towards Shillong-Sohra Road
- Laitmawsiang and Laitryngew roads towards Shillong-Sohra Road
- Dainthlen Junction
- Khliehshnong, Sohra towards Shillong-Sohra Road
- Laitkynsew-Sohra Road via Mawmluh
- Lad Sohbar-Sohra Road
The administration has advised travellers and tourists planning to visit or pass through the area on September 4 to plan their journey accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
Emergency vehicles, including ambulances and fire tenders, will be exempted from the road restrictions.
The order was issued by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Sohra Civil Sub-Division, in the interest of public convenience.
